territory).

Wednesday 19th July 2006, the Great Wall of China will sign a Memorandum of
Understanding with Italy’s Cinque Terre, bringing together two of the world’s natural and
cultural treasures.
为促进两国自然和文化遗产的交流，2006年7月19日，中国长城与意大利五渔村在慕田峪
长城举行友好合作谅解备忘录签约仪式
VERNAZZA, the jewel of the Cinque Terre, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in
1997 and visited every year by thousands of tourists, was devastated by floods on October
25th 2011.
韦尔纳扎（Vernazza）是五渔村（Cinque Terre）中的一颗明珠，后者在1997 年被联合国
教科文组织选为世界文化遗产，每年接待了无数来自世界各地的游客。韦尔纳扎在2011 年
11 月25 日遭到了泥石流的袭击。
Three people lost their life.
The village was literally buried by more than 4 meters (13 ft.) of mud and debris.
这场灾难造成了三人死亡，村庄被4米厚的淤泥掩埋。
The roads suffered immense damages and presently Vernazza cannot be reached by road.
附近的公路也受到了极其严重的破坏，当前已经没有公路可以抵达韦尔纳扎。
The railway line was also damaged, but thanks to the timely intervention of volunteers and
railway workers, the circulation could soon be resumed.
火车线路同样受到了严重的破坏，多亏了铁路工作者和志愿者，线路得到了很快的修复。
At present only residents and authorized staff are allowed to get on and off trains at Vernazza
station.
当前只有当地居民和收到准许的工作人员才能在韦尔纳扎火车站上下车。
The village can now be reached only by train and by sea, with all ensuing inconveniences.
目前只有火车和船只能够到达韦尔纳扎，给生活和旅游带来了极大的不便。
In response to this tragedy, institutions, citizens and volunteers from all Italy and abroad,
rushed to lend a hand to free Vernazza from the mug.
灾难发生后，世界各地的志愿者和慈善机构纷纷援助韦尔纳扎从淤泥之中重建。
At the same time, gathering centers were established in the neighboring villages to provide
immediate assistance.
在临近的村庄中，建立了许多援助中心，提供即时的帮助。
The work of the volunteers was greatly enhanced by the “word of mouth” on social networks
(primarily Facebook), where people interested in the fate of
this village gathered in groups to spread the word and increase the awareness of the tragedy.
通过在社交网络（主要是脸书）上的传播，越来越多的志愿者加入加快了重建工作的进程 ，
同时向有兴趣的朋友们传达各项进展和呼吁社会的关注。
The damages were estimated in more than 100 million Euro and the village had to be
evacuated for safety reasons.
这次灾难据估计造成了超过一亿欧元的损失，当地村民因为安全问题已经全面撤离
Actually only a handful of volunteers authorized by the Mayor and the security personnel
dealing with emergencies can live in Vernazza.
只有少数处理紧急情况的志愿者被允许停留在韦尔纳扎。
The institutions can ensure only a small share of the funds needed to restore Vernazza to its
ancient splendor, therefore it is urgent to activate all available means to obtain help.
慈善机构已经答应捐出一些资金，但是远远不够，因此现在非常希望能够得到来自各种渠道
的帮助。
Our common aim is to reconstruct the village, preserving its historical and cultural heritage.
我们的目标是重建家园，保留历史和文化的传承。
The Mayor of Vernazza, Vincenzo Resasco, declared: “The reconstruction works shall focus
on the security of the village, of its residents and visitors and on the preservation of its
peculiarity.”
韦尔纳扎市长Vincenzo Resasco, 声称“重建工作一定会在保存历史原貌的基础上，专注居民
和游客的安全问题”
Consequently, if we don’t want Vernazza to become a ghost town, our absolute priority shall
be the prevention of further landslides (more than a hundred thereof were recorded!)
因此， 为了不让灾难重演，我们最先做的是要阻止山体滑坡（有超过一百个地点被标记。
Until that moment, the evacuated population will not be able to return to the village and to
bring it back to life.
到目前为止，撤退的村民们仍然无法回到韦尔纳扎，回到自己原来生活当中。
Bringing Vernazza back to life is not only an absolute necessity for its citizens and many
affectionate visitors, who consider it their “place of the heart”…
重建韦尔纳扎，不仅仅是因为当地居民和许多喜爱它的游客的需要（很多游客称韦尔纳扎是
最向往的地方）
…but it is also vital for the economy of the area and its surroundings, for its great impacts on
jobs.
同时因为Vernazza是当地的经济中心，为周边区域提供了许多工作机会
In fact, between direct and indirect workers, more than 3000 jobs are at risk.

What can we do to save Vernazza?

From the day of the tragedy, people are working full time to clear the roads and the premises.
灾难发生以后，人们全身心的投入到清理道路和建筑的工作中
You can already see the progress, but a lot has still to be done.
你可以看到许多工作的成果，但是更多的事情需要处理。
Each of us, according to their means, can contribute.
我们每一个人，都可以通过不同的方式提供帮助。
All together, we can bring Vernazza, one of most charming villages in Italy and in the world,
back to life.
让我们一起，把韦尔纳扎这个世界上最迷人的村庄之一带回我们的生活。
For this reason, the no-profit Association “Per Vernazza Futura ONLUS” was formed, under
the patronage of Vernazza City Administration.
因为这个原因，在韦尔纳扎政府的监督下，成立了一个非营利组织ONLUS (the nonprofit
association per vernazza futura).
UNA PIETRA PER VERNAZZA is the name of the project, established by the City
Administration of Vernazza and by the Association Per Vernazza Futura ONLUS.
韦尔纳扎市政府和ONLUS 共同发起了一个名叫韦尔纳扎基石的项目。
Its aim is to assist the financing of the reconstruction of the public works destroyed in the
floods of October 25th.
这个项目的目的是为韦尔纳扎的重建工作筹集资金。
